TWO SHOT INJECTION MOULDING
Innovation meets affordability. Our two shot injection moulding solution will make any complicated design simple to create.
What Is Two Shot Injection Moulding?
Two Shot Moulding (Double Shot, Dual Shot, Multi Shot, Overmoulding) is a plastic moulding process used to make precise parts with intricate shapes all without leaving behind excessive material waste.

It is a sub-category of Injection Moulding that allows the creation of multi-material or multi-coloured parts without extra assembly steps. It is best understood as injected material that is layered by the injection moulding machine. The first material that is injected into the mould creates the substrate around which the other material or materials will be moulded. This substrate solidifies and cools before being transferred to the other chamber of the mould.

The mould then opens and the substrate side is rotated 180 degrees, meeting the second mould chamber and the injection moulding nozzle. Here, the substrate meets with the second mould chamber and the second material is injected. Once the second material bonds with the substrate and is cooled, the final part is ejected.

Due to this process, it is important for the mould to have easily bondable materials. Alignment of the moulds is also critical to avoid any deformities in the finished part.
